Waititu Fined Sh21 Million, Faces 13 More Years in Jail Over Kiambu Road Scandal

Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been fined Sh21 million or face 13 years in prison over three money laundering charges linked to the Sh588.7 million Kiambu road tender scandal.

Chief Magistrate Harrison Barasa imposed the sentences at the Anti-Corruption Court in Nairobi on Monday, November 2, 2026, with the penalties running concurrently with Waititu’s existing 12-year prison term.

Waititu was fined Sh10 million or five years in prison on Count 10, Sh6 million or four years on Count 11, and Sh5 million or four years on Count 12.

His wife, Susan Wangari Ndung’u, businessman Charles Chege Mbuthia, his wife Beth Wangechi Mburu, and companies linked to the disputed tender were also fined millions of shillings.

On Count 10, Charles Chege was fined Sh10 million or five years in prison, while Beth was fined Sh2 million or two years.

Saika Two Estate Developers Limited and Testimony Enterprises Limited were each fined Sh16 million.

On Count 11, Testimony Enterprises was fined Sh12 million, while Bienvenue Delta Hotel was fined Sh2 million or two years in prison in default of payment.

On Count 12, Charles Chege was fined Sh5 million or four years, while Beth was fined Sh2 million or two years. Saika Two Estate Developers and Testimony Enterprises were each ordered to pay Sh8 million.

The court directed the corporate accused persons to settle their fines within 14 days.

The sentences stem from a Sh588.7 million contract awarded to Testimony Enterprises by the Kiambu County Government to upgrade gravel roads to bituminous standards in several sub-counties.

Prosecutors said proceeds from the project were channelled through businesses associated with Waititu and his co-accused.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission previously reported that Saika Two Estate Developers received more than Sh25.6 million, while Bienvenue Delta Hotel received Sh7.214 million.

The latest sentencing follows a High Court decision overturning earlier acquittals on the money laundering charges and entering convictions against Waititu and his co-accused.

Waititu is already serving a 12-year sentence following his conviction in the corruption case, with the additional sentences running concurrently under earlier High Court directions.
