Senegalese football star Sadio Mané is investing about $20 million in a major agro-industrial project in his home village of Bambali in southern Senegal.
Through his company, SM10 Agro, the initiative will cover 500 hectares and include mango plantations, processing facilities, an agricultural training centre and research operations.
The project is expected to create more than 1,000 direct jobs and process up to 8,500 tonnes of mangoes annually, producing value-added products such as mango pulp, dried mango and mango butter for local and export markets.
