Kitui MCA Arrested Over Alleged Nairobi Phone Thefts
Detectives have arrested a sitting Member of the County Assembly (MCA) from Kitui County over a series of alleged mobile phone thefts in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).
Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka, the MCA for Ikanga/Kyatune Ward, was arrested along Mfangano Street by detectives from Kamukunji Police Station following intelligence linking him to three reported phone theft incidents in August and September 2026.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said CCTV footage helped detectives identify the suspect in connection with the reported incidents.
Musyoka is also wanted in a separate case after allegedly failing to appear in court following his release on bond.
According to the DCI, the MCA is wanted in Criminal Case No. 112/303/2024 at Makadara Law Courts, where he had been charged with stealing.
The suspect was being held in police custody for processing ahead of his arraignment in court.
The DCI said investigations into the reported phone thefts had led to his arrest, adding that suspects would be pursued regardless of their social or political status.
The allegations against the MCA are yet to be determined in court.
