Kisumu Robbery Suspects Arrested After High-Speed Prado Chase, Gun Recovered
Detectives in Kisumu Central have arrested two suspected robbers after a high-speed police chase that ended with a black Toyota Prado crashing into an electric pole near Oile Park.
The suspects, identified as William Onyango Odhiambo and Felix Owino Onyango, are believed to be linked to a series of robberies in Kisumu town and its environs.
Their arrest followed a report by a woman who told police that she and her friends had been robbed of five mobile phones by individuals travelling in a black Toyota Prado.
Acting on intelligence linking the vehicle to the robbery, detectives launched a search and traced the Prado, registration number KDX 642Y.
However, the driver defied police orders to stop and sped off, triggering a high-speed pursuit through the town.
Detectives eventually opened fire at the vehicle’s tyres after the driver continued to evade arrest, puncturing them near Oile Park.
The driver subsequently lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into an electric pole, damaging its front-right side and bringing the chase to an abrupt end.
The two suspects were arrested as they attempted to flee from the wreckage.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a black pistol and three mobile phones, which were detained as exhibits as investigators pursued leads into the suspects’ alleged involvement in the robberies.
The suspects remain in police custody as detectives process the case ahead of their arraignment in court.
