Taita Taveta Senator Johnes Mwaruma has been elected the chairman of the Senate County Public Investments and Special Funds Committee.
Mwaruma was elected unanimously to replace Vihiga senator Godfrey Osotsi who has chaired the panel since 2022.
Osotsi was last week kicked out of the position following a vote of no confidence. He was later removed from the committee.
Mwaruma moved from the Senate County Public Accounts Committee where he has served as vice chairman since 2022.
Nominated Senator Beth Syengo has been elected the vice chair of the panel.
She replaces Migori senator Eddy Oketch was was removed from the panel in the changes approved by the House early this week.
Mwaurama thanked the committee members for electing him to the position.
” i want to promise you that i have been around for some time and will operate an open door policy. I urge you to attend meetings because we have a lot of work to do,” Mwaruma said in his inaugural speech.
