Two Women Arrested in KSh530,000 Chicks Supply Fraud
Two women have been arrested and charged over an alleged KSh530,000 fraud in which a buyer reportedly paid for 7,500 chicks valued at KSh1.387 million but received none.
The suspects, identified as Marysella Naswa Kanda and Angela Kendi, appeared before the Ngong Chief Magistrate’s Court, where they faced a charge of conspiracy to defraud, contrary to Section 317 of the Penal Code.
The court granted each suspect cash bail of KSh250,000 or an alternative bond of KSh300,000. The case is scheduled for mention on November 9, 2026.
Investigations began after the complainant reported the alleged fraud at Kiserian Police Station, claiming to have paid KSh530,000 for the supply of 7,500 chicks that were never delivered.
According to the complaint, the buyer deposited KSh350,000 into a Co-operative Bank account operated under Japlead Global Feed, reportedly owned by Marysella, on September 13, 2026.
A further KSh180,000 was deposited into the same account on September 16 after the complainant was allegedly promised delivery ahead of schedule.
However, the chicks were not supplied despite the payments.
Police launched investigations and later conducted an undercover operation, posing as prospective customers seeking to order chicks.
The operation led to Marysella’s arrest in Kitengela with the assistance of local police officers, while Angela was also arrested in connection with the alleged scheme.
The two suspects remain subject to court proceedings as the case awaits mention in November.
