Tinubu travels to Saudi Arabia to Pray for Nigeria
Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will travel to Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah, according to local media, which cite the Nigerian Presidency.
The Presidency says he will pray for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability, and progress during the Islamic pilgrimage, the reports say.
Before departing Abuja, Tinubu is also expected to commission newly acquired equipment for the Nigerian Air Force.
The trip comes amid public discussion about the President’s health, with presidential aides rejecting speculation that the visit is for medical treatment.
They say the journey is solely for religious purposes and note that Tinubu undertook similar pilgrimages before previous political milestones.
The Presidency says the President is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the pilgrimage.
The visit also comes at a time when Nigerians continue to grapple with economic, security, and social challenges, with many looking to the government for solutions ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
