The Standard Group PLC has appointed Dr Naim Bilal Yaseen as its substantive Group Chief Executive Officer, ending his tenure in an acting capacity.
The appointment, announced on October 29, 2026, takes effect on November 1, following a competitive recruitment process conducted by the company’s board.
Dr Yaseen brings more than 30 years of experience in media, public institutions and corporate governance.
He previously served as Managing Director of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) and Director of Public Affairs and Communication at the Judiciary.
His academic qualifications include a PhD in Communication Studies, a Master’s degree in Communications Policy, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Laws degree. He is also an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
The board said his appointment is expected to strengthen the media group’s digital operations and commercial performance while safeguarding editorial independence.
The leadership change comes as media companies face growing pressure to adapt to digital platforms, diversify revenue streams and navigate changes in audience consumption and advertising spending.
