How to Apply for Quickmart IPO Through M-PESA Ziidi Trader

Quickmart’s initial public offering (IPO) gives Kenyans an opportunity to become shareholders in the retail supermarket chain, with shares priced at KSh7.50 ahead of the offer’s October 30, 2026 closing date.

The offer, which opened on October 1, allows retail investors to apply for shares through designated channels, including Ziidi Trader on the M-PESA My OneApp.

An IPO allows a company to offer shares to the public, enabling investors to acquire partial ownership of the business. The amount of shares an investor receives depends on the outcome of the allocation process.

According to the IPO frequently asked questions, investors who apply will not necessarily receive all the shares they request. If the offer is oversubscribed, meaning demand exceeds the number of shares available, applicants may receive only a portion of their requested allocation.

Funds corresponding to shares that are not allocated will be refunded to the investor’s M-PESA wallet, while money held during the application process will remain subject to the offer’s allocation procedures.

Successful applicants will receive a confirmation SMS, and their allocated shares will appear in their Ziidi Trader portfolios. Investors can then manage their holdings through the platform.

How to Apply for Quickmart IPO Shares in Kenya: A Step-by-Step Guide

The shares are scheduled to be credited to Central Depository System (CDS) accounts on November 11, 2026, with trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) expected to begin on November 12.

Investors will be able to sell their shares through Ziidi Trader after the listing, although the price they receive will depend on market conditions at the time of sale.

The IPO also provides for dividend payments through M-PESA if Quickmart declares dividends. However, dividends are not guaranteed and depend on the company’s financial performance and decisions on distributing profits.

Quickmart IPO key dates

  • October 1, 2026: Offer opens.
  • October 30, 2026: Offer closes and final day for retail investor payments.
  • November 6, 2026: Announcement of offer results and notification of allocation.
  • November 10, 2026: Payment date for qualified institutional investors only.
  • November 11, 2026: Allotment date, crediting of CDS accounts and commencement of applicable refunds.
  • November 12, 2026: Listing and commencement of trading on the NSE.

Investors considering the offer should review the official prospectus and applicable terms and conditions before applying. As with other listed shares, the value of an investment may rise or fall after trading begins, and investors may lose part or all of the money invested.
