EACC Arrests NTSA Officer Over Alleged KSh18,000 Bribe for Driving Licence
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a clerical officer attached to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) headquarters over allegations of soliciting and receiving a bribe to facilitate the processing of a driving licence.
The officer, identified as Joseph Njoroge Kihuna, was arrested on Wednesday following investigations into a complaint filed by a matatu driver who alleged that the officer had demanded KSh18,000 to facilitate the issuance of the licence.
According to the EACC, the suspect was arrested within the NTSA headquarters premises while allegedly receiving KSh8,000, part of the money he had reportedly demanded.
Following his arrest, Kihuna was taken to the Integrity Centre for processing before being released on a cash bail of KSh50,000 pending the conclusion of investigations.
The commission reiterated its commitment to combating bribery and corruption in public service delivery, noting that such efforts are aimed at restoring public trust and ensuring citizens can access quality services without being subjected to corrupt practices.
The case remains under investigation, with further action expected upon completion of the probe.
