Kajiado Man, 62, Arrested Over Suspected Child Trafficking and Defilement
Police in Kajiado County have arrested a 62-year-old man over suspected child trafficking and defilement after four children were found in his company at a bedsitter in Korompoi Trading Centre, Isinya.
The suspect, identified as Enock Peterson Mwangi, alias Mwamburi Mwandeme, was arrested following an intelligence-led operation that led officers to the room, where they found children aged 17, 16, five and one year and four months.
The discovery prompted detectives to launch investigations into how the children came under the suspect’s custody and the circumstances surrounding their presence at the premises.
A subsequent search of a house linked to the suspect in Mashuuru Township uncovered an assortment of items, including bags filled with children’s clothes ranging from newborn to teenage sizes for both boys and girls.
Detectives also recovered baby shawls, blankets, a baby carrier, shoes of different sizes, six mattresses, duvets, pillows, empty diaper carrier bags and assorted foodstuffs.
Several adult male clothes, ranging from sizes 34 to 54, were also found neatly arranged on hangers inside the house.
The items recovered are expected to form part of the ongoing investigations as detectives seek to establish whether they are connected to the suspected offences.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, the four children have been placed under appropriate care and protection and are expected to undergo medical examinations.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said it remains committed to protecting children and other vulnerable members of society, warning that individuals found culpable would face the full force of the law.
