Nairobi Phone Theft Probe Leads to Arrest of Sitting Kitui MCA
A sitting Member of the County Assembly (MCA) from Kitui County has been arrested in Nairobi over alleged mobile phone thefts in the Central Business District (CBD), with detectives also linking him to an outstanding arrest warrant in a separate stealing case.
Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka, the MCA for Ikanga/Kyatune Ward, was arrested by detectives from Kamukunji Police Station along Mfangano Street following intelligence-led investigations into three reported phone theft incidents in August and September 2026.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), CCTV footage played a key role in identifying Musyoka in connection with the reported incidents.
His arrest also brought to light an outstanding warrant in Criminal Case No. 112/303/2024.
The MCA is wanted for allegedly failing to attend court after being released on bond by Makadara Law Courts, where he had been charged with stealing.
Musyoka remains in police custody as detectives process him ahead of his arraignment.
The DCI reiterated that no one is above the law, saying detectives will continue pursuing suspects and ensuring they face the courts regardless of their position or social status.
