Detectives from Gigiri have arrested a man captured in a viral video violently attacking and robbing a member of the public in Parklands, Nairobi, alongside suspected accomplices who remain at large.
The suspect, identified as Obed Makori, was arrested along the Northern Bypass following an intelligence-led operation that linked him to the robbery.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the gang attacked the victim before fleeing with his valuables.
During the incident, Makori allegedly dropped a firearm, which was recovered by police and secured as an exhibit.
The suspect had remained at large since the incident, evading arrest until detectives tracked him down in the latest operation.
Makori is currently in custody undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment in court.
Meanwhile, detectives are pursuing additional leads to identify, track down and arrest the other suspects believed to have participated in the robbery.
The DCI has reiterated its commitment to combating violent crime, dismantling criminal networks and bringing suspects involved in attacks on members of the public to justice.
