The National Police Service (NPS) has intensified its crackdown on phone theft syndicates, dealing a major blow to criminal networks involved in street robberies and the illegal trade in stolen mobile devices.
Acting on intelligence reports, officers from Kayole Police Station in Nairobi carried out a targeted operation in the Nyaura area, leading to the arrest of four suspects.
Among those apprehended was a man believed to be a principal receiver and dealer of mobile phones stolen by street snatchers, as well as three other suspects linked to a string of phone-snatching incidents.
During the operation, police conducted a thorough search and recovered 132 assorted mobile phones, several mobile phone motherboards, and two laptops suspected to have been used in or connected to the illegal enterprise.
The National Police Service said the operation demonstrates its continued commitment to dismantling criminal networks that profit from stolen property and enhancing public safety.
Investigations are ongoing as detectives pursue additional suspects believed to be connected to the syndicate.
