Routine police patrols in Nairobi have led to the arrest of two suspected phone snatchers and the recovery of several stolen mobile phones, in the latest crackdown on street crime.
The two suspects were arrested by officers from Shauri Moyo Police Station while conducting patrols along Digo Road on Thursday.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), the suspects are believed to be part of a group that has been targeting unsuspecting members of the public in the Gikomba and Digo Road areas.
A search conducted after the arrest led to the recovery of five assorted mobile phones suspected to have been stolen from victims in separate incidents.
Police said three victims have already positively identified and claimed their mobile phones, with efforts ongoing to trace the owners of the remaining devices and establish whether the suspects are linked to other theft cases.
The National Police Service said the arrests demonstrate the impact of sustained patrols and intelligence-led operations in tackling crime and enhancing public safety.
