Makini Schools is targeting an initial enrolment of 150 learners for the first cohort of its Cambridge International Curriculum at its Runda Campus, with admissions set to open in September 2026 as the school expands access to internationally recognised education.
The introduction of the Cambridge pathway follows the acquisition and integration of Regis Academy into the Makini Group of Schools, transforming the Runda campus into a dual-curriculum institution offering both the Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum and the Cambridge International Curriculum.
The expansion is aimed at meeting growing demand from Kenyan families seeking globally recognised qualifications that prepare learners for admission into leading universities and international careers.
Speaking during the announcement, Makini Schools General Manager Godfrey Odhiambo said the new programme responds directly to parents’ demand for international education while maintaining the school’s established academic standards.
“At Makini, our focus is on delivering consistent, high-quality learning experiences across every campus. The introduction of the Cambridge pathway at Runda allows us to respond directly to parent demand for internationally recognised education while maintaining the strong values, discipline and academic rigour that define Makini,” said Odhiambo.
He added that the September intake will accommodate up to 150 learners as the school begins rolling out the programme at the campus.
Makini first introduced the Cambridge curriculum at its Ngong Road Campus in 2020, where learners have recorded strong academic performance. In the 2025 Cambridge IGCSE examinations, the school produced Kenya’s top learner in English and Literature.
Regional Managing Director Horace Mpanza said expanding the Cambridge curriculum to Runda aligns with the school’s long-term strategy of increasing access to globally benchmarked education across Kenya.
“The introduction of the Cambridge curriculum at Makini School Runda reflects our long-term strategy to expand access to globally benchmarked education across key growth nodes in Kenya. Runda is a natural extension of this vision, bringing world-class education closer to families who value both excellence and future readiness,” he said.
The school said learners at the Runda campus will benefit from academic support systems, including MAP benchmarking assessments, AI-enabled learning through Advlearn, and continuous teacher development under the Advtech Group’s Academics Centre of Excellence.

The launch forms part of Makini Schools’ broader expansion strategy to increase access to globally competitive education while maintaining consistent academic standards across its campuses.
