CA Moves to Revoke Licences of 22 TV Stations, Gives Broadcasters Seven Days
The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has issued a seven-day notice to revoke the broadcasting licences of 22 television stations, putting their authorisation to operate at risk.
In a Gazette Notice published on Friday, October 9, 2026, the regulator said the licences would be revoked within seven days of publication under the Kenya Information and Communications Act.
The notice lists several commercial free-to-air broadcasters, including faith-based stations Holy Spirit’s TV, Greater Life Television, Assemblies of God Kenya Television Network and Bethsaida Television.
Other affected stations are Madaras TV, Revival Wave TV, Mshindi TV, Mountain of Peace TV, Riigi TV, Ngoyoo TV, Nene TV, WTV, Kim Kim TV, Wendo TV, New Breed Connect TV, Shem TV, Ikengi TV, Thespy TV, Technique View Television and Engako Television Network.
CA warned that resources held under the affected licences would revert to the authority once the revocations take effect.
However, the regulator did not specify the reasons behind the planned revocations, leaving questions about the circumstances surrounding the affected broadcasters.
The move comes alongside separate notices concerning companies seeking to surrender broadcasting-related licences voluntarily.
Landmerc Limited has requested the termination of its licence for Tandaza FM, a commercial free-to-air radio station.
Moreplex Television Limited has also sought to terminate three licences associated with Moreplex TV Kenya: a terrestrial subscription licence, an SMS licence and a landing rights licence.
The seven-day notice puts the 22 television stations on a deadline, after which they would no longer be authorised to provide services covered by the revoked licences.
