Molo Murder Suspect Arrested After Form Four Student’s Gruesome Killing
A 23-year-old man accused of brutally murdering his girlfriend, an 18-year-old Form Four student in Molo, Nakuru County, has been arrested after detectives tracked him down to a hideout in Kuresoi North.
Walter Kipkoech was arrested in Lagwenda village following a sustained manhunt by detectives from Molo and the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) at the Regional Criminal Investigations Headquarters, Rift Valley.
Kipkoech is accused of killing Joy Wangui, a Form Four student at Molo Secondary School, whose mutilated body was discovered inside a house in the Kiambaa area of Moto Location.
Wangui’s brother reportedly returned home from a nearby shop to a horrifying scene—his sister lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen, with her head severed from her body.
Detectives responding to the scene recovered an axe, panga and two knives, all bearing bloodstains, near the body.
Wangui’s severed head was later found in a corridor, where a chilling message had allegedly been written on the wall in blood: “I love you Joy but never cheat, am sorry.”
Preliminary investigations linked Kipkoech to the deceased as her boyfriend, with detectives pursuing a possible relationship dispute as the motive behind the killing.
The suspect was arrested while allegedly wearing a blood-stained boxer, a white T-shirt bearing the deceased’s name at the hem and black jeans with visible dry blood stains.
He was escorted to Molo Police Station, where he is being processed pending arraignment as detectives continue piecing together the circumstances surrounding the horrific killing.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said it would leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice for Wangui, assuring her family and friends that all circumstances surrounding her death would be thoroughly investigated.
The suspect remains in custody as detectives build their case ahead of his arraignment in court.
