Lil Wayne Announces Engagement to Madi Cannon
American rapper Lil Wayne has announced his engagement to Madi Cannon, revealing that he is set to walk down the aisle with his longtime partner.
The 44-year-old rapper shared the news in a video posted on the Instagram account of fellow Hot Boys member B.G. on Monday.
The clip appears to show a FaceTime conversation between Lil Wayne and B.G., who had also announced his engagement to Brooke Jones.
While congratulating B.G. on his engagement, Lil Wayne turned the camera towards Madi and introduced her as his fiancée.
“I’m marrying this one,” Lil Wayne said before adding, “This is Madison. This is my fiancée.”
Madi also congratulated B.G. and his fiancée, while Lil Wayne jokingly offered to serve as the best man at their wedding.
“Let us know what colour clothes we’re wearing. I’m the best man, you know? Love you, man,” he said.
The announcement comes months after Lil Wayne publicly denied reports that he was engaged.
During a livestream at the time, the rapper sought to set the record straight, saying, “I would like to clear something up. No, I’m not engaged.”
He acknowledged that he had been in a relationship with an “amazing person” but explained that he had concerns about becoming a burden to his partner amid what he described as the challenges of the current world and culture.
His latest announcement now confirms that he and Madi Cannon have taken their relationship to the next level, with the couple preparing for marriage.
