APA Sweeps Major Honours at Think Business Insurance Awards

APA Apollo Group has reinforced its position among Kenya’s leading insurers after its subsidiaries — APA Insurance, APA Life Assurance and APA Microinsurance — scooped 13 awards from 15 submissions at the 2026 Think Business Insurance Awards.

The strong showing saw the group recognised across key areas of the insurance business, including product distribution and marketing, customer centricity, fraud detection, claims settlement, medical underwriting, product innovation, emerging risks, corporate social responsibility and major loss management.

The group also earned recognition in the highly contested General Insurer of the Year and Life Insurer of the Year categories, underscoring its growing influence in Kenya’s insurance sector.

The awards come at a time when insurers are under increasing pressure to embrace technology, improve customer experiences and develop innovative products to meet changing consumer needs and emerging risks.

APA Apollo Group said the recognition reflects its continued investment in innovation, operational efficiency and customer-focused solutions while maintaining responsible and sustainable business practices.

Group Chief Executive Officer Ashok Shah said the awards demonstrate the company’s commitment to delivering value to customers and raising industry standards.

“Winning 13 awards from 15 entries is a remarkable achievement and a reflection of the strength of our people, the trust of our customers and the resilience of our business,” said Shah.

“These awards affirm our commitment to continually innovating, improving customer experiences and delivering on our promises when it matters most.”

He added that while the company was proud of the recognition, it remained focused on leveraging technology and service excellence to shape the future of insurance.

“We remain focused on raising the bar even higher and shaping the future of insurance through technology, service excellence and purpose-driven leadership,” he said.

Shah attributed the success to employees across the group’s businesses, saying their dedication and expertise had helped position APA as a leader in the industry.

The Think Business Insurance Awards are among the sector’s most prominent annual events, recognising insurers that demonstrate excellence in service delivery, innovation, risk management and overall business performance.

Industry analysts say recognition in areas such as claims settlement, fraud detection and customer service is increasingly important as insurers seek to build trust and deepen insurance penetration in Kenya, where uptake remains relatively low compared to more developed markets.

The awards also highlight the growing importance of innovation in the sector, particularly as insurers respond to new risks linked to climate change, digital transformation and evolving customer expectations.

For APA Apollo Group, the latest accolades add to a growing list of industry recognitions and signal its ambition to remain at the forefront of Kenya’s increasingly competitive insurance market.

The performance at the 2026 awards places the group among the sector’s top performers and reinforces its reputation for balancing business growth with customer satisfaction, innovation and responsible corporate citizenship.
