Terrence Creative Was Suspended Over Rape Allegations, He Didn’t Resign Content Creators Association Says
The Digital Content Creators Association of Kenya (DCCAK) has clarified that comedian and content creator Lawrence Mwangi, popularly known as Terrence Creative, was suspended from the association in May following rape allegations made against him.
The association said Mwangi did not leave through a resignation as suggested by reports circulating on social media, but was suspended from his position as Secretary General pending the resolution of the allegations.
In a statement released on November 2, DCCAK said the suspension took effect on May 2 after a young woman accused the comedian of rape in connection with an incident at a massage parlour in Kiambu County.
“The Association took this decision pending the clarification and resolution of the allegations, with clear instructions communicated to him in writing,” the association said.
DCCAK said it had not received any official update on the status or outcome of the allegations, adding that it was taking the matter seriously.
The association said the suspension was an administrative measure intended to safeguard its integrity and operations while the matter was being investigated.
In the suspension letter dated May 2, 2026, the association’s board said the decision followed allegations circulating on social media and information that the matter was under investigation by criminal justice agencies.
The letter, signed by DCCAK chairman Bob Ndolo, stressed that the suspension did not amount to a finding of guilt or an admission of wrongdoing.
“The Association fully upholds your right to a fair hearing and the presumption of innocence,” the board said, adding that it would await the outcome of investigations before determining the next course of action.
Mwangi was directed to step aside from all duties and official responsibilities attached to the Secretary General’s office during the suspension.
The association appointed Joan Wanjiku Waweru as Acting Secretary General until further notice.
DCCAK said it remained committed to upholding accountability, professionalism and due process as it awaits clarification on the allegations.
The latest statement seeks to address confusion surrounding Mwangi’s departure from the association, separating the reported resignation from the suspension communicated to him by the board in May.
