‎Six people, including three students have been killed and several others injured in a road accident involving a private van, a trailer and a 14-seater matatu at Lessos Junction in the Mlima Punda area along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway on Thursday.
‎
‎The injured were rushed to Burnt Forest Hospital and Plateau Hospital for treatment as police officers, emergency responders and residents mounted a rescue operation to free passengers trapped in the mangled wreckage.

‎Confirming the accident,Uasin Gishu County Traffic Enforcement Officer Cornelius Chesimet, said that investigations had been launched to establish the exact cause of the collision.

‎Images from the scene showed the 14-seater matatu extensively damaged, with its passenger side ripped open, the roof crushed, seats mangled and several windows shattered, underscoring the force of the impact.
‎
‎The comes comes barely a day after another road accident claimed two lives and left 26 others injured along the Muhoroni-Londiani Highway. The crash occurred at around 4:50 am near the Tunnel area, about seven kilometres east of Fort Ternan, when a bus carrying mourners reportedly lost control and rolled off the road.
