Former Cabinet Secretary and Malindi politician Aisha Jumwa has announced her resignation from the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), describing the move as one of the most difficult decisions of her political career.
In a statement released on Thursday, Jumwa said the decision followed “deep reflection, heartfelt prayer, and countless consultations” with the people she represents.
“From today, Aisha Jumwa Karisa Katana is no longer a member of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA),” she said.
Jumwa did not immediately disclose the reasons for leaving the President William Ruto-led party or outline her next political move. However, she indicated that the decision was made after extensive engagement with her supporters.
Her exit marks the latest high-profile departure from the ruling party and is likely to fuel speculation over shifting political alliances ahead of the next General Election.
