Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has announced sweeping changes to the party’s leadership, appointing Nyali MP Mohamed Ali as Deputy Party Leader designate and former Cabinet Minister Jamleck Kamau as the new Chairman, with both appointments taking immediate effect.
In a statement issued on Friday, August 7, 2026, Kalonzo said Mohamed Ali’s appointment reflects his long-standing commitment to integrity, accountability and public service.
“Hon. Mohamed Ali becomes the Deputy Party Leader designate of the Wiper Patriotic Front, effective immediately. Before joining Parliament, he distinguished himself as Chief Investigations Editor of Jicho Pevu, where he fearlessly exposed high-level corruption, carried out undercover investigations and gave a voice to whistleblowers when many sought to silence them,” Kalonzo said.
He noted that Ali has carried the same dedication into elective politics, maintaining his commitment to fighting corruption and serving the public interest.
“That instinct to expose rather than conceal, to serve rather than to extract, has remained with him to this day,” Kalonzo added, describing the Nyali MP as a consistent advocate for transparency and accountability.
Kalonzo also named former Cabinet Minister Jamleck Kamau as the Chairman of the Wiper Patriotic Front, citing his extensive experience in governance, political negotiations and coalition building.
“Effective immediately, Hon. Jamleck Irungu Kamau, EGH, becomes Chairman of the party,” Kalonzo announced.
He praised Kamau’s three decades of leadership experience, highlighting his previous roles as Cabinet Minister for Nairobi Metropolitan Development, two-term Member of Parliament, National Vice Chairman of the former Party of National Unity (PNU), and chief negotiator for a past governing coalition.
According to Kalonzo, Kamau’s wealth of experience in managing political alliances and public administration will play a key role in guiding the party through the country’s evolving political environment.
The appointments are part of a broader restructuring of the Wiper Party leadership as it gears up for the 2027 General Election.
The reorganisation is aimed at strengthening the party’s leadership, enhancing its national presence and reinforcing its position within the opposition ahead of the polls.
