Ramaphosa Says South Africa Remains Globally Engaged Despite Anti-Migrant Tension

South African government has refuted claims that the country is becoming isolated from the rest of Africa following recent anti-migrant protests.
‎
‎Presidential spokesperson Vincent Magwenya, while briefing media stated that there was a sustained campaign to portray South Africa as a “pariah state,” despite the government’s repeated condemnation of attacks on foreign nationals and its commitment to enforcing immigration laws within the Constitution.
‎
Magwenya also accused critics of misrepresenting diplomatic engagements to create the impression that South Africa was being shunned.
‎
He said President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recent international engagements, including a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, showed that South Africa remained actively engaged with Africa and the wider world
