Police officers from Obama Police Station have seized 187 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa, commonly known as bhang, with an estimated street value of Sh5.6 million in Ruai, Nairobi.
The narcotics were recovered after officers conducting a routine foot patrol intercepted two 17-year-old Ugandan nationals within the station’s jurisdiction.
A search conducted on the teenagers led to the discovery of Cannabis Sativa in their possession, prompting their arrest and further questioning.
The two suspects subsequently led detectives to a house in Ruai, where officers conducted a search and uncovered the large consignment of bhang.
A 33-year-old woman, identified as Susan Omondi, was arrested at the premises. She was taken into custody alongside the two juveniles as investigations into the suspected drug trafficking network continue.
The recovered narcotics have been secured as exhibits and are expected to form part of the evidence when the suspects are arraigned in court.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said it remains committed to disrupting drug trafficking networks, dismantling illicit supply chains and protecting communities from the harmful effects of narcotics.
